Sly Stone – For Real (Demo)

I’ve recently been thinking a lot about my favorite albums from 2010, and it has certainly been an incredible year for music. Many fantastic albums have been released this year, as well as many pivotal re-issues (still waiting to get my hands on David Bowie’s “Station to Station” boxset). On the topic of reissues and blast from the past, a fantastic album from this year is Sly Stone In The Studio 1965-1970. This record is the second volume from Ace Records chronicling the Stone Family’s earliest recordings as well as outside collaborations with The Beau Brummels, Joe Hicks & His Sisters, Vaetta & Tiny.

There is much to love about this Sly Stone demo, specifically the place-holder lyrics near the back-half of the song. Great stripped down groove, sultry vocals – a true highlight from a young Sly Stone.
